I’m Bruce Nelson. Welcome to my blog! It’s far from pretty yet, but like myself, it is a work in progress. I’ve been involved with journalism – one way or the other – for 48 years. That includes 16 years as a newspaper reporter in Minnesota and another 32 years as national field rep with the NewsGuild, the union that represents news and digital employees, along with a whole bunch of other folks. I retired in October of 2015.
With this blog, I am returning to my journalistic roots, to a love of writing that has always burned inside of me. As a young reporter, I thought I had all of the answers. As an old man, I know that the best I can do is know some of the really important questions. I need this outlet to think those questions out and try to connect the dots with the right words. I can’t think of a better way to continue growing old. And I would really love it if you followed along.
